Thank you to everyone who entered this weeks competition a wide and varied selection with some cracking shots not making my task an easy one . I`m no expert but here are my thoughts,

Tombstones Of An Industry
tyronet 2000
An interesting subject that makes me want to know more, i like the composition and positiioning of the main objects in the frame and the B & W conversion adds atmosphere . A pity that overall its not a tad sharper . A good start.

Stick Em Up
Judith Ann
Lovely shot of a child at play and a good interpretation of the theme, possibly cropped a little too tight for my liking but still a super capture, one for the family album.

Welcome To The Peak District
Sandinista
A super landscape that would certainly entice me to the peak district, Great composition and lighting with a `fantastic sky` one of my favourites.

Echinops Ritro
pentaxophile
Another good interpretation of the theme. Refreshingly different interpretation by being taken at dawn accentuating the blue feel to the shot , nicely done.

Bobble
Dodge69
Super capture especially when viewed large with lovely colours.

Thurible
bforbes
Great detail in the thurible set against a relatively plain background but with super texture in the stonework, nicely done.

The New Footbridge
stephanie 0812
Arefreshingly different approach to the theme , everything certainly seems to go round in this picture. i especially like the Little Planet Processing, excellent.

Come Around To The Front Door
Tars
A well lit subject but a little too central for me and would have been better if the stamen had been in focus . agood effort.

Brighton Wheel
Dr Orloff
This one just oozes class. From the diagonally positioned wheel , the motion blur and the moon all come together to maker a super capture.Excellent.

Roundhead Screws
Glyn M
good to see this was taken for the comp. Simple but effectivewith just the right amount of depth of field to show off the heads of the screws. Crisp and sharp also ,another favourite.

Dandelion
Milamber

I dont think it matters that this has been entered previously. An intriguing take on a fairly familiar subject , would love to know how it was done. Great lighting accentuated by the black background. Nicely done.

Looking Out
geordie 01
Wonderfully detailed and sharp capture especially when viewed large. My only criticism is that there doesnt seem to be a catch light in the eye other than that a super shot.

Atom
stopher
As an East Lancashire lad myself i`ve been trying to think whereabouts in Lancashire this might be. B7W a good choice as it focus`s attention on the main object which is well positioned in the frame. Personally i would have gone for a bit more sky and a little less foreground but thats only my opinion , a fine shot.

Red Billed Hornbill
Noelcmn
Great colours and the most important focal point the eye is super sharp with a nice catch light. What apity the car window impinges in the frame.

Red On Blue
John Riley
Well executed technically and it certainly fulfills the `round` criteria. Well framed and the red and blue complimentary colours also work well together.

Parisian Sculpture
Swarf
I Like the Frame within a frame idea and the diagonal angle but the subjects not quite round enough for me.

Were Surrounded
Lancashire Lad
Plenty of round objects in this one . possibly framed a bit to central for my liking but a good effort.

The Wheels On The Bikes Go
Von Bon Cat
Another cracking shot well on theme , my only criticism is the slightly distracting yellow vehicle which tends to lead the eye away from the main subject.

Wheel Conexus
I love vintage vehicles and this to my eye has been well captured with a nice background blur focusing attention on the subject, nice capture.

Looking For Food
Tozza27
An interesting shot but not quite the type of round i was looking for.

Little Guitar Man
crazy dave1996
Another interesting capture , to my shame i`m not aware of the Free Lessing technique but it certainly makes the subject eerily life like. Just a little bit to off topic for me.

Reflections In A Childs Bubble
eoinandpaula
Spot on theme wise with a super reflection in the bubble, well framed and a nicely burred background, nicely done.

Portholes
Alun
A great subject for black and white with great lighting, what a pity we couldnt see more of the ship but the restaurant certainly puts the size of the ship into perspective , i like it.

Droplets
Stonecold
I know this has been done before but this is one of the best ive seen , fantastic colours , a definate late contender.

Aston Martin DB6
Quackpants
Blisteringly sharp with just enough background blur to indicate the vehicles lineage. A fine shot.

Bokeh
Charlotte
I see where your`e coming from with the round Bokeh, a wonderful capture superbly executed with lovely pastel shade and exquisite lighting , you can tell i like this one !

Tuba
Frankie
A shot that not only has atmosphere but that fantastic reflection as well . personally i would maybe have cropped a little off the right hand side , but a super shot.

Millstones
Paulb531
Its wonderous with the technology back then how they managed to make these massive stones. A powerful shot of millstone grit well captured and i like the square crop.

Its Your Round
drofmit
My kind of round too after all this typing , i could do with a beer , i like it.

The Light House
Jak
I like how youve processed this but maybe you could have cropped a little off the left hand side but still a nice shot.

In the end it was a tough choice as there were some great shots.

2nd place , The New Footbridge ,Stephanie 0812

Thanks for the comments Tim and the good suggestion. I agree that a little bit off the right will improve my shot. Congratulations to the four well deserved winners and thanks to everyone else for sharing your great pictures.

A classy image it is indeed, Dr Orloff, liked it from the moment I saw it. Wished it was mine actually. Perfect angle and to which the moon adds an added dimension. CONGRATULATIONS are in order, as they are too, to Stephanie 0812, Sandinista and Glynn M. Wonderful creativity shown in this challenge with a simple one worded theme. Thanks
timcx500e for a vvery fine judging job here, and I am inclined to diagree with-"I'm no expert" sentiment. Very helpful insights and comments.

Congratulation to Dr.O and the other placings.
Well done Tim for the competition and prompt judging...despite a slow start, was a good & high quality turnout!

Tim, FYI the 'atom' is located overlooking the village of Wycoller, about 3 miles out of Colne. Pendle hill is in the background.
