Battery choice for k200d ?

after the lithium batteries ran out i bought some energizer 2450 mah rechargeables with a fast charger. the problem is they dont seem to last long ,in use after a while the battery indicator shows empty , if i switch off and wait a few minutes it recovers and shows a quarter full. the ones in my canon sureshot used to last for ages . dont want to have to keep buying the expensive lithium ones .any ideas ?

Best to use 2800s, minimum. I've done a fair bit of shooting and playing about with the camera on since Monday, and still showing full charge.

Don't foget that batteries need to be used a few times to be fully effective.

Also, is your charger able to charge them fully? Some chargers only charge to a certain level regardless of the battery. If you bought the battery and charger as a single unit this should not be an issue.

Finally, it will depend what your are doing. Lots of indoor focussing and use of flash will drain batteries very quickly.

One or more of the of the cells may be faulty, or perhaps the charger isn't doing a good job.

It is normal though for batteries to recover somewhat after a rest.

I've never had much luck with Energizers. Panasonics or Sanyo Eneloop are about the best. Sainsbury's stock the Sony badged version of Eneloop for about £8.20 per pack of 4 which is only about a pound dearer than mail order.

In my K100 I seem to obtain better life with RCR-V3 rechargables than AA rechargables. I'm looking for RCR-V3's now but they seem few and far between

Bit the bullet and using Energizer Lithiums most of the time, more expensive, but so much easier and reliable.

Shelf life of 10 years, over 1000 shots per 4 and getting them for £6.85 for 6 from Superdrug, a lot lighter too
Been picking up a pack every now and then, not missing the cash like that and probably got enough now for a good few years

Got some Duracell 2650 NiMh and an Anasmann charger which I also use when I actually plan to go out and can charge them up the night before

Still prefer AA's for their availability and another reason I am so happy with the K200D and the K100D Super before it

Must admit this is my choice also, didn't know Superdrug did them either! I'm averaging about 1200 shots per set of four Lithiums, that's with very little flash usage though.

I use recargable batteries in my 200D when I go on safari. I use 2700 mah and no lower than 2450. On my last trip I took 5500 shots in 12 days and I think I only had to change the batteries twice with the camera on continuous shoot and we were out from 6am till 6pm almost every day.

I use Sanyo Eneloops in everything from my clocks to my GPS to my torches to my flash guns. No problems and they are only 2000maH cells.

Alkaline et al batteries will always seem to produce better results because they have a nominal voltage of 1.5v compared to 1.2v of NiMh etc.

4 X 1.5v = 6v, 4 X 1.2v = 4.8v Says it all really.

Ray-O-Vac made some rechargeable Alkaline batteries that were 1.5v. Not seen any for a few years so they have probably stopped making them. They were only really suitable for something that only used say 25% of their capacity and then re-charge. If you used them in something that almost exhausted them you would only get about two charges before they died.

If you find yourself really stuck, Tesco are doing their own brand 'Power Hi Tech' batteries for two four-packs for 3.50. They used to last a long time on my *ist DL2!

Not quite. You have to take into consideration the internal resistance of the cells.
