Hi! I have a Pentax PZ-1p with an SMC FA 28-80 Power Zoom and an FA 100-300 Zoom. I'm a pretty casual photographer, and broke. Can anyone recommend a Pentax digital body that will accept these lenses?
Thanks! Bart Brown

That's an easy one to answer. All of the Pentax Digital SLR's are able to use your lenses. Any Pentax lens ever made, including screw mount lenses (with an adpater) can be used on their DSLR bodies.
The oldest is the *istD which can be bought for around £200. Look on ebay for a *istD, *istDS, or any of the newer models. The early models have 6Mp sensors and give very good results. The K10D and others has a 10Mp sensor and the K20D has a 14.6Mp sensor. Peter Smith A candle, the lowest form of light. Last Edited by Mannesty on 01/07/2009 - 21:19

Welcome.
You can also use these on the Samsung GX-10 and GX-20 (which are really the same as the K10d and K20d). Thanks for your welcomes and quick replies. My first SLR was a Spotmatic F, bought new in the early '70s. Wish I still had it! Looking for something near the 8MP range. Considering the price of even a used *ist D at 6MP, would I be better off looking for a K2000, at 10MP? I haven't seen a K20 body or kit I can quite afford yet.
Thanks again Bart Brown

Welcome to the forum, Bart. My first foray into digital SLRs has been with a GX-10 and I'm delighted with it. The Park Cameras website lists the body-only price at £319 but their ad in the June 27 AP says £289, which would be a ridicuously low price for a camera of this capability. I wouldn't think twice if I were you.
Cheers, Al

Or wait until the K7 arrives and see if you can pick up a 2nd hand K10d. I know mine will be on sale then!

Cheers, Al Yes I can confirm that park will do the body for the price as listed in the magazine ads (just say you've seen it in the mag for that price, its in this weeks Ap at that price too) , I got a gx-10 double lens kit last month from them (free nxt day delivery too!) and couldnt be happier. In effect you'd be getting a brand new k10d with better designed menu's for £289 delivered. Has to be the best deal out there. Bart, fill in your location so we can make geographically sensible suggestions. Several here have mentioned Park Cameras, but I suspect you live in the USA as you referred to model K2000. That's called the K-M over here.
