Do they still make YoYo's, those nice chocolate coated biscuits with a minty flavour, or are they under a different name now

Virgin Media!!!

Unlimited downloads, except that they cap your connection speed if you use it to download large files!!!

A file I've been downloading is now going to take 8 hours, instead of the 45 minutes stated before the 'cap' started...

Still, I'll shortly have 20meg broadband..

... that they can cap to 1/10th it's true speed...

Virgin are useless... I wish I had an alternative but
I'm too far from the BT Exchange so stuck with Virgin.
I hadn't used the PC much yesterday but the connection
was just crawling.

I fancy trying Linux Mint, but it's 800MB and even though
it will start at 10MB/s it will probably get throttled
right down part way through.

It's unbelievable that the can advertise Unlimited and
10MB/s speed and not supply it. Thank goodness that
they don't run Banks

The biggest problem with Virgin Media is that the connection dies to a crawl at regular intervals. Rebooting the router cures it and it's then back up to speed.

I can sometimes get up to 5.7Mbps, which is not at all bad via a BT phone line. What I really want is it just to be reliable and consistent.
Best regards, John

I wish I had your problems.....The best we have ever got on our BT line is 990kbps and it regularly falls to 125kbps or less. Last week it was 16kbps. Drops off all the time as well. We've had engineer after engineer out and they all say the same - 21st century technology on 1960's lines and no chance whatsoever of them being upgraded.

Sorry - one very happy Virgin Media user here . OK don't always get my 60 Meg but no real problems with outages - I can only think of 2 since 2003 - and one of those was where some idiot managed to go through a sub sea cable somewhere and everywhere collapsed .

They were terrific when I had to move the account to my name - one phone call and it was done .

My only minor nark is I need two phone lines - one for me and one for my alarm so yes , I end up paying for the two lines so my cost is higher than I would like , but I can't face the thought of re-jigging the alarm system - so I grit my teeth and pay up
let the education continue

The older BT lines were better..... pure copper

It's all to do with distance anyway on BT so
it doesn't really matter how old the lines
are.

I'm stuck with Virgin, BT have no intention of upgrading thelocal exchange until 2025ish, assuming they're still trading.

The conection's not bad, it's just thepolicy of dropping connection speed when a customer is downloading large files!

And before any body says it, yes it is in the small print, but who reads ALL that?
