In response to comments on a recent shot in the gallery, I have tried a few alternative crops here for c&c. Grateful for any comment, good or bad! The middle version is actually a different shot, taken a few seconds after.

Thanks Dr Mhuni. Think I was getting a bit anal about cropping the spear!

No 3 for me too. Much nicer without the little bit of sky. It is a lovely photo.

I'm with Kris on this one. A favourite place for me to take pictures as well, because you can go to the motor museum afterwards but none as good as this. Excellent timing.

I feel quite ashamed as I live about 10 minutes from the Cathredral and work even closer and have not been for ages - well 20 years actually when I collected my masters there

Now dare I say I actually like the first one

The priest is smaller in the image and adds a real sense of scale to the shot. Oh and by the way, I love the colours of them statues

Loosing that bit of sky is good, but not much between #2 and #3. Excellent shot and well worth pondering a bit about the best crop for it.

Thanks all. I also thought the statues really looked nice against the pink sandstone. They are very expressive pieces! No one seems to have a good word to say about Coventry, but it's actually quite an interesting town. Looking forward to exploring the new cathedral which looks awesome - couldn't access it last week because of Evensong.
