After much tribulation with parcelforce, I've finally managed to acquire the above Kenko converter. Primarily to try with the DA*300mm
Incase anyone is interested in this combination I've posted a couple of images on flickr I took with it as a first attempt. I'm not sure, yet, how it will compare to a crop from the DA*300 - that's part of the weekend project, together with a try with a sigma 120-400mm to see what the effective 600mm is like - I guess pretty awful! but I might get a surprise! Focusing is not perfect - hunts a bit and needs final manual adjustment, but doesn't seem bad so far. Martyn http://www.flickr.com/photos/northamptonshirecouk/

For testing take at least 4 shots at 25x focal length with the 1.4x attached i.e. about 10.5m. Use magnified LV and AF for the shots.
Use something with fine detail as a target.... postage stamps... non-uk banknotes etc. Mark on the wall the left and right sides of the viewfinder frame with a bit of Blu-Tak or sticky tape. Remove the TC and move the tripod in until the marks line up with the left and right of the frame. Should be about 7.5m. Take at least another 4 shots. Compare with a side by side view at 100% (1:1) using a viewer such as the free Farstone Viewer. Capture screen with PrtSc if needed.
