Shaun, of all the images, i personally think that the last one is the best. the lighting works well on this image. Image number 2, I like the idea, but her eyes are to far to one side, not enough white of the eye showing, which affects the balance of the eyes. Anyway that's just my opinion. Shaun, good to see you experimenting though.

i have just looked at no 2 i dont understand what your saying there is plenty of white there ?

any way looking at the images i think they are good i like them no 2 and no 3 are my favs

Richard, What I was trying to state is that eyes look better when there is white on either side of the Iris, they then look balanced and more attractive in my opinion.

This is something camera club judges tend to look for, personally I think it's a load of codswallop

Shaun: we've seen you can take a good portrait a number of times as others in this set proove, but I'm sorry to say that the second shot (the one in question) is probably your worst ever A classic horror movie sprung to mind as soon as I looked at it, does anyone remember The Beast with Five Fingers

That disjointed hand is just WRONG! crop it for just a head shot.

I used the k5 and the 135mm lens, I must say it was very hard to get the shots you want as 8 others photographers where shouting at the models at the same time, it was like a pap shoot David you know what I mean as you have been there and done it as well.

Sorry, we will have to agree to disagree on this. Portraits look better when there is white on either side of the Iris, which balances the eye, and that's got nothing to do with judges or camera clubs. However, I will agree there are some exceptions when it does work. Shaun, sorry but image 2 is not one of them and Alan is right about the hand. Were you trying to get a Horror lighting look? The Beast with Five Fingers? Alan I never thought you were that old, I guess the sectret is out now!
