I have my eye/mouse on a possible one, apparently from a non-Pentax guy - the picture I am getting is the same as Boj's Off Camera Adaptor F (top). Are the 2 items identical from top view & from side view (5-pin socket)? Boj's pix are of different views and thus inconclusive.

Hi,
The Hotshoe adapter mounts on the camera and takes it's feed from there. If you use the 5P cord from here, it will plug direct into some guns. If you can't do this, you use the off camera adater, mount the gun on this with the cord plugged in. If you look at the photo on Boz's site, you will notice there are no pins on the bottom but rather a tripod socket. Both look the same from the top. The hotshoe adapter has electrcal contacts top and bottom. Kim

Thanks, Kim.
I am now waiting for the seller to confirm that he has pins on his bottom! David

My hotshoe adapter F looks identical to the off-camera adapter F, except, of course, for the the underside.
This is irrelevant to your present dilemma, but if this deal falls through, it might be useful to know that in some ways the adapter F is better than the Fg, even on MZ and *ist camera bodies. The former works on the Z series of cameras with the offset hotshoe, but it prevents the RTF from elevating on later cameras. It still works, but you can't use the RTF. Solution: mount another flash on the adapter, instead of using the RTF. Another advantage of the F is that you can mount several more adapters one above the other, and use several flash guns at the same time. So, whatever the body, I'd always choose the F in preference to the Fg. G |
