So that's what the red dot/button on top of it is for - to make it eligible for the Red Dot award! Cunning.

It might win the Green Dot award as well in that case, whenever that is.

Pressing the green dot elevates your levels of smugness above European norms.

It's an Industry Award, not a specific camera/photographic award....I think there are quite a lot of them going around!

Much more important is whether it has caught the attention of the camera buying public?

Anyone know how well (or not!) it's selling??
K-5, Sigma 17-50 f2.8, SMC Pentax DA* 50-135 f2.8, MX + SMC M 50mm f1.4, Spotmatic F 55mm f1.8, ES with 55mm f1.8 and 28mm f3.5 (and Leica ii plus misc. odds and sods)

I wouldn't even know where I could go and see one to try other than perhaps SRS. But that would be a long drive from here! Given I find the K-5 difficult to use in liveview mode, I cannot see how the K-01 would make it any easier, unfortunately, so it isn't something that I'd want regardless unlike, perhaps a FF DSLR or even an updated K-5. I would be curious to see one and who knows what happens on impulse, but that won't happen when there are none to be found locally. Even then I couldn't see that it would be for me.

I really can't see how it can be selling well if there are none around to buy. Still plenty of K-r's though.

Intrigued by your difficulty using live view on the K5 .... or should I say puzzled. I use it quite a lot and find it very good indeed

uses d-slr lenses, not FF, shaped like a brick.. no evf... yet turning the video world upside down at the moment..
the k-01 could become... with a few tweeks.. like live hdmi out during recording and more output options..
