Kennet and Avon area

Reading the back postings in the local groups would suggest that the Pentaxians in the area along the Kennet and Avon Canal have never had a get-together. Chris Inkpen and I have been discussing this by e-mail, and think this should be rectified.
This is aimed at Pentax User Group members in the area roughly centered on the K&A Canal between Bath and West Berkshire, and spread out a few miles either side. We are referring to the K&A, because while we both live in West Wiltshire, this would imply a small area, and we do not want that.
So, will any interested parties please get in touch, and tell us what sort of meet would be preferred. At the moment, we are thinking of a Saturday, somewhere with some good subjects for the lenses, with facilities for coffee (and things which might distract spouses and partners)and probably in West Wilts. We would also like an opinion on how much time should be devoted to general chat, and how much should be for making pictures; also, how often such events should take place. What we do NOT want to do is to set up just another camera club.
Let us know (PM or here), please, if there will be enough support for this.

How about on George's boat?

Well, in principle no problem, but sadly the boat and I are now in London, awaiting our turn in the dry dock. I was until a couple of weeks ago in the very heart of K&A land. Deepest, darkest, Wiltshire. Lovely county. And West Berks is nice too, but a bit closer to London, with all that that implies.

PS: A Grand Union shoot could be on the cards later on, though perhaps it would be best to wait until the summer season is over, and the canals are quieter.
Keywords: Charming, polite, and generally agreeable.

I'm up for it. Rugby season's finished til September, so apart from a couple of weeks in Greece - ash clouds, Greek ATC strikes and flight cancellations not withstanding (just had to rebook x Gatwick as our Bristol flight's been cancelled), not many prior engagements at the week ends in the diary so far.

Wiltshire Downs can be good for landscape photography,ie
Tan Hill/Adams Grave
Roundway,
Barbury Castle
Uffington Castle
Avebury (early start to avoid the crowd, then walk up onto the Ridgeway for the Grey Wethers etc)

Not good for the the other halves though
