I simply throw the cap in my bag and leave the lens cap off the lenses while switching them and of the end of the day put the lens cap on for storage.
Probable some will horror about this but there is nothing that can scratch the lens.
All have their own space in the bag and I face them down with the glass against the soft padding. I do however always please the K-mount endcap on it.

I usually put the cap on my pocket, walk around with the lens uncapped but allways with a hood. If I switch lenses I usually put the cap back on.

I dont find it confortable to be constantly putting the cap on and of.
I dont wan to be recklees with my gear, but I want to be confortable shooting as well.

I tend to walk around with the lens cap stuffed in my holster camera bag. I used to pop it back on after every photo, however I once did this without removing my polarizer, and now have some very nice rings round the edge of the glass.
