As per the title, looking for an ultra-wide angle lens. Preferably a Sigma 8-16mm but possibly the 10-20mm f/4-5.6, if it's a good price. I believe SRS has them for £399 and £329 respectively, though the 8-16mm can also be had new for £349 at Wilkinson.

So, if anyone has one they're looking to sell, or has any suggestions, please let me know! I'll probably be buying one of the above in the next day or two.

Thanks very much!

I think £349 for the 8-16mm is a good price. The 10-20 probably is not the best uwa around, but it is one of the best options for K mount with a reasonable price tag.

It's a very good price.. I emailed SRS but they said they couldn't match it.

Now I just have to figure out how to check it to make sure I got a decent copy.

Just went on Wilkinson, finding the 8-16 is OOS already. Lucky you!

I have been lurking in the forum for a long time in order to get the first crack

And now returned due to extreme fringing. I think Wilkinson are going to have it fixed, or perhaps just return it to Sigma. Either way, if it pops up for sale again on their website and anyone is interested it might be worth a call to see if it's been fixed or not.

I think I'm going to delay my wide-angle pursuits and try something a little more standard.

Anyone have a nice Pentax 17-70mm for sale?

I think someone is selling a 10-20 in the forum, maybe worth checking out?

I saw, I directed him to elfer as he's been looking a bit longer. Besides, I've had my chance at wide-angles, it's his turn now

What a gentleman. I don't think you can get much more from the Pentax 17-70 than you can from the Sigma 17-70 though. Why not the Sigma 17-50/2.8, Sigma 18-50/2.8 or Tamron 17-50/2.8?

I've had the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5 and I didn't really like it - colors were too blue, wasn't sharp at f/2.8. 55mm often feels too short on the kit lens so 17/18-50mm would be even worse. I used to have a Tamron 28-75mm which was excellent even at f/2.8 but I sold it to fund something else. It was often not quite wide enough but I did like the colors. I tend to like the Pentax colors as well, plus there's in-camera CA and distortion fixing, which saves some steps later. No hope of that with the Sigma.

Feel free to PM if you want to continue the discussion, as we're kind of junking up the Classifieds - which isn't fair to everyone else
