HI,
Thought this would have been posted already but can't find it here.
Link to full article here

Previous rumors have the K-3 sporting a 24MP sensor, 29-point SAFOX X/w light wavelength AF sensor, 6fps continuous shooting at highest resolution, 1080p and 720p video recording at 60/30/25 and 24 fps, Dual PRIME M processor and ISO range between 100 and 25,600 (expandable to 50-102,400).
Cheers,
Pa

Still rumour, whereas the headline got me thinking this was an official announcement. The rumours are beginning to coalesce into something plausible though. There are still some things that don't ring true; the D600 sensor which the article suggests may be shared by the 'K3', is actually supposed to be made by Aptina, not Sony.

The image is obviously a quick PS job!

I have added the word "rumoured" to the title to avoid any misunderstandings.

No, there's a mash up of the April Fools Day K3 picture and specs (quoted as 'previous rumours have included...') and the recent rumours from DC Home via RiceHigh's blog:

Quote:
It is not from any trusted source with any past track record and hence nothing can be verified. But from the details it has provided, this grain of salt is yet somehow specific and interesting!

http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1149840
(in Chinese)

What are mentioned:-

1. Pentax will make the world's most compact Full Frame body which is to be marketed by March 2013;

2. Two body colours, in black and in silver;

3. Using the new Sony 24MP FF sensor, possibly the same one in the upcoming Nikon D600 and Sony A99. However, owing to the agreement between Sony and Pentax, the new Pentax FF has to be put onto the market six months later;

4. A new FF kit zoom lens starting from 28mm wide angle;

5. Together with a new vertical battery grip;

6. And also a new flashgun unit, too!

7. To be sold at HK$22,000 for the body only (equals to US$2820);

8. Will be announced "soon" in September (at Photokina?).

Nothing has been mentioned about the video, though. But are the above already exciting enough? Real or not.

Will it won't - I suppose we will have to wait

I read the link to the full article above and in my opinion the comments posted by a small proportion of Nikon users seemed needlessly spiteful At least we don't have to put up with that here

Lets hope this is true as it will open the options to us Pentax users a little further

Still resisting the K5 (otherwise my birthday will be a bit bland) but if the new announcement around Sepetmeber is full frame and no new apsc offering to replace the k5 then its looking like a k5 for me
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

If it is to be a full frame it will be interesting to see how many people who have been demanding one actually buy one. It should be a major hit on it's launch day if all those full frame protagonists are to be believed. Of course whether they are willing to pay the price for it is another matter...
No doubt they'll all start moaning about the lack of FF lenses for it immediately too, just too give them something else to complain about .

I shall be sticking to my K-5 for the foreseeable future, but that was always the plan.

I assume if this is the case. There will be a renewed interest in old film lenses. Pushing up the bargain prices,

I won't be able to afford one whatever the price, however I still want to see it appear, as I want to see 'Pentax' the brand strengthened and given more credibility.

On the subject of price, if $2800 is fairly accurate, that equates to about £1875-£1900 body only, although the UK price often ends up closer to the dollar equivalent.
I would say that they need to bring it in at below £2000, particularly if it uses the same sensor that will have had a 6 months headstart on a Sony camera. Can't really understand why it seems to be taking so long to appear.

If management are not quite sure about FF then they could have always taken a cheaper , less risky route and gone for APS-H.

If the rumour is true then I sincerely hope Pentax are not going to abandon top end models with APS-C sensors, unless of course the F/F has some gizmo which crops the sensor to APS-C and allows use of DA lenses.

I believe that is is about 60 years since the first 'Pentax' 35mm SLR rolled of the production line! The Asahiflex was 1952.

A fullframe digital camera would be a great way to mark that milestone aniversary!

You can see this being a digital 'LX'.

Not unreasonable as I think a crop on a 24MP sensor would give 16MP.
