Pentax User on PDF

Hello,

We're considering some options here at Pentax User. If the magazine was available as a PDF that you could download, in the current format, would you pay £10 per year to receive it? Current membership prices are £18.95 to UK, £25.60 to Europe and £29.55 to the Rest of the World. The £10 option would be the same worldwide.

For this poll, it doesn't matter if you already subscribe or not.

I've said no for two reasons:-

1/ I like to sit and browse in comfort with a coffee
2/ I like to see the images in their glossy form.

But I can see how it might appeal to a worldwide audience.

I'm 100% with Barrie, pdfs are fine for data sheets an alike but not my copy of Pentax User

Edit: Again as Barry says I'm sure some of the members outside the UK would take up the option though. Perhaps you could offer both?

Well. as a Norwegian member I much prefer the paper edition to a pdf.

Internet is a wonderful thing (like this forum, for example), but not for reading magazines. There was a discussion some years back on the paperless office - I very much doubt it will ever happen.

Although a great idea for some I'm sure, I have to say the same applies to me - I sit in front of computers way too much anyway, my Pentax User is a welcome distraction!

I'm for the PDF option, it will make reading a little more awkward but allow easier archiving.

I would probably pay for the PDF version, since they are easier to store (no bookcase space left) and can be brought easily in case you want an article in hard copy. For those of us that struggle with small print, it would make reading a lot easier.

Disappointed by all the boorish snobbery here on this forum. I would never consider purchasing a Pentax now or ever.

Would you get the same benefits (SRS discount, 20% off repairs from Pentax) etc?

I would go for a PDF. I'm a bit of a tree hugger so it makes a lot of sense to me.

Mixed feelings on this one Dan. I like my hard copy. I like reading it with a cup of coffee, and taking my time over it. My husband has started reading it too, but he reads it somewhere he won't take a computer - the loo .
I like getting it through the pot.
But I like the idea of saving some money. Times will be getting tight here in a couple of years when my husband retires, and subscriptions will be something to be thought about. 2 and a half years subscription for the price of one year would make a good arguing point

Like Oggy I like the environmental aspects of the PDF version too.

But still I prefer a hard copy for now.
Would the mag go entirely to PDF or would we have the option of PDF or hard copy? When would you implement the change and what effect would it have on our current subscription status - mine runs out in July 2011, so would I still get the paper mag until then or get an extended period of the PDF version?

I think you can just put that down to being a "man thing" Gwynn. I have photo and computer mags in both our upstairs and downstairs toilets.
