Highlands and Islands and much more, but a bit of research will reveal all. Websites, Lonely Planet Guides, there's no shortage of information.
Best regards, John

How much time have you got?
Will you be using public transport or private vehicle? How far do you want to walk, away from the car? There is a lot of Spectacular in Scotland but if you can walk away from the roads there is a lot more. Try searching on these. Trossachs, Glencoe, Torridon, Mountains of Scotland and all of the other suggestions! Bob

The Highlands and Skye are spectacular. But the areas most people miss are East Lothian, the Borders and Dumfriesshire. Some spectacular locations and wonderful castles and villages.
But to be honest, Scotland is amazing and there are things to photograph everywhere. And if you're passing through that way, Northumbria is also wonderful. Too many people dismiss it! My Photobucket

I like the west coast but you can't go wrong in Scotland, beautiful place I would move there if I could.

Dumfries and Galloway, it's like Cornwall . . . without the tourists.
Up through Carlisle into Scotland, and turn left towards Locherbie. Most people just carry on up to the more traditional tourists spots and miss this beautiful area completely. Shush Peter - don't tell everyone or it will be like Cornwall with the crowds.
With only 7 days I would pick one area and explore that thoroughly rather than trying to cover all of Scotland. It is a big country, and driving takes longer than you think it will. We enjoyed staying in Argyll, on Loch Fyne. There were plenty of interesting places around, wet weather activities, walking scenery, castles etc. And good food. We spent a week there and barely scratched the surface.

You can see a fair bit from Sca Fell in the Lake District. Quite near enough

Anywhere north of Gretna.
For achitecture and cityscapes - Edinburgh and to an only slightly lesser extent, Glasgow. For landscapes - anywhere north and south of the central belt. For wild-life - the Cairngorms and Isle of Mull My favourites are the west highlands and Argyllshire. My favourite island has to be Islay for the peace, tranquility, scenery, wildlife and whisky.
