SD Card Formatting - Doing it properly!

This could be a useful link for those of you who may have problems with SD cards (especially after formatting them via your computer rather than in the camera . . . . . . . ) and you want to reformat them correctly.

It does seem an over complication though, when all that is needed is to format the card in the camera it's going to be used in?

True, but there are times when a card is just not recognised in the camera but can still be seen on the computer.

I couldn't agree more with John. Its the simplest method - do it in the camera that is going to use the card. It only takes a few seconds.

In camera, format, not delete.

If memory plays up once I suggest BIN it.

I always format 'in camera' - never had a problem when I've done that.

Absolutely - memory cards are cheap, revisiting rarely is and is frequently impossible.
