Simple question, difficult pondering it. Got an offer and was wondering what the sage PU members might advise. I can be a little hasty sometimes. So this is a slight delaying tactic to help me concentrate my thoughts. On one hand the money would be handy, I'm missing a decent 1:1 macro and also a wide angle, I don't use the 58mm as much as I used to. I know only I can answer the question but folks may have experiences of selling hard to find lenses then regretting it.

Thanks.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

You do not give us many clues to help in making recommendations.

The Nocton has a fl of 58mm =87 allowing for the crop factor so it would be good for portraits and the wide aperture of 1.4 and the shallow DOF would let you isolate the subject from the background. Do you do many portraits? Is this fl covered by any of your other lenses? How tempting is the offer? If you regretted the sale would you be able to replace it at a similar price?

If you address these questions it might help in reaching a decision. Maybe other forum members can come up with some suggestions.

Do you do many portraits? Not as many as I'd like.

Is this fl covered by any of your other lenses? DA 55-300mm, 55mm Vivitar f2.8, F35-70mm, certainly not the same quality as the Nokton.

How tempting is the offer?
Tempting ....but now the decision looms

If you regretted the sale would you be able to replace it at a similar price? Not seen another go so have no idea of the "market" value.

Well you have some duplication as the Vivitar is close in focal length but not such a wide aperture. Which one do you use most?

The Nocton seems to be quite difficult to find in Pentax mount so it might be difficult to replace. I am not sure that I am helping much.

Archie, you're helping, thanks. I'm going to sleep on it.
