Quick comparison shot, JJC lower one. link Hi Tom I see what you mean about the size, I think I will go for one of those £4.00 including postage I dont think I can go wrong. Regards David

The JJC one is a two piece "fitting and rubber Eye Cup" were as the 6 in 1 type are three piece to accommodate for other camera bodies.
As Smeggy points out its that close it does not obstruct the view finder. Tom K-5's, K20D Pentax DA 18-55mm, Pentax DA* 16-50mm, Pentax DFA 100mm Macro, Pentax DA* 300mm, Pentax HD DA 560mm F5.6 ED AW, SMC Pentax-F 1.7x, Kenko Pz-AF 1.5x SHQ.

tomkeet wrote: Hi David, if you are thinking of the type Eye Cup in your link above, have a look at the JJC EP-2 22mm Rubber Eye Cup found them slightly better quality link I have taken Toms advice and ordered an Eye Cup from;link It's the last they had in stock so I hope its OK. It must be coming from China by Elephant, as expected delivery is marked as 02-18 July, this year I hope. It should make things easier as putting my glasses on my head is a no no. There's and expensive pair of sun glasses sitting at the bottom of a river because of that trick. Will update when I have tried it later in the year!!! Thanks for advice David Last Edited by davidrobinson on 24/05/2012 - 14:25

Hi All
My eyecup arrived from China on Saturday, it's just what I wanted and excellent value. I've yet to try it in bright sunlight which is where I was struggling most but I'm sure its got to improve things. Up to now it enables me to see the camera settings with ease, and improves my ability to lock my eye onto the viewfinder keeping me focused on subject without the distraction from the sides the standard eyecup caused. Now I don't need to remove my glasses which enables me to see the LCD display with ease. Also it makes access to the diopter adjuster very easy. Kind regards and thanks to all David Last Edited by davidrobinson on 13/06/2012 - 21:52

I now use multi-focal (vari-focal) contact lenses. I was sceptical at first.
They have concentric circles of differing focal lengths and apparently your brain "tunes out" the stuff you dont want to see. They dont provide pin-sharp perfect vision like specs and they took a bit of getting used to at first, but now I wont be without them. I can easily read small print as well as see clearly at distance I now no longer need specs, either for distance or close up vision however for really intricate, close-up stuff (tying fishing flies or electronics repairs) I do revert to specs. No more dirty spec-lenses, no more wiping specs in the rain, no more steaming up when coming inside from the cold, no more steaming up when cooking, no more sitting on and destroying my £290 Armani specs, no more forgetting where I left my specs and searching for them, no more looking like a nodding dog when using vari-focals. As I said previously - a God-send and as jeffstclair said, life-changing. B. "He's not the Messiah, ..."

Hi,
I have completely solved the viewfinder Glare problem with my Pentax K-5, by fitting the Hoodman HoodEye. From Amazon.co.uk, I purchased the Model HEYEC18G, this is for the CANON 10D, 20D,30D, 40D, 50D. 60D and all Rebel Models. This was sold by Amazon & supplied by Keene Electronics. It took just 10 minutes work with a square ended file that has a safe edge, to modify the HoodEYE to obtain a perfect fit on the Pentax K-5. The HoodEYE is pushed down over the viewfinder mounting rails and is locked into place by a locking tab that snaps into a secure locking position. Some 1/32inch of material has to be removed from each side of the 'wings' that fit into the viewfinder mounting rails and the locking tab 'rail' also needs a few thou removed. I used a Dial Reading Vernier to accurately measure the work. As the HoodEYE has to be fitted to the viewfinder at an angle, care has to be taken so that the Diopter adjuster is not dislodged. It really is an easy job to fettle. Best Regards, Last Edited by K-5User on 18/06/2012 - 11:29
