Uploading RAW from my new K-3

I have taken a series of night photos with my new K-3 in RAW format and Lightroom and Picasa cannot read my files...What have I done wrong? They look horizontal coloured stripes???

Please help me!!

Your software more than likely does not support the RAW format that you used.

I don't have a K3 and I also don't use the software that you mention. But from reading on the web, it's my understanding that LR needs the in-between step of using the adobe raw converter before importing K3 raw images. How to do it, I don't know as I have experience with it. And if not mistaken, you need to set the camera to the DNG raw format and not PEF one.

No idea for Picasa.

If the above is not an option, I suggest that you install the software that came with the camera; at least you can view / convert the images till such time that you (or ligtroom / picasa) have sorted it out.

I will check out the whole DNG verses PEF file...cannot imagine that lightroom 5.3 is not equipped?

Okay Wim...It was set on PEF and not DNG!!!!!!
I will try a shoot right away...even though I should be in bed sleeping right now

Hi Judith, Lightroom 5.3 does support Pentax K3 PEF files, earlier versions do not.

You can also convert any existing .PEF files to .DNG using adobe's standalone converter.
