I want a small green background sheet so that its easy (?) to remove the item photographed for use elsewere.

Could anybody tell me what the best green is.

Thanks a lot
Colin

It shouldn't matter too much - as long as the colour chosen is not present in the object(s) in the foreground. Even lighting of the background is needed, with no shadows onto the background (ideally) nor spill back of colour onto the object(s). You'll 'pick' the colour to make transparent and can expand its range until all the background disappears.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_key is worth a read.

A quick look shows that E-bay and Amazon have blue and green screens for sale, and a good photo shop may also have some. I think you can even buy special paints from specialist suppliers (stage & TV lighting?).

Generally green is used for motion picture film and blue for video, the reason for those two colours is that they generally aren't present in human skin.

I'm sure Calumet sell the correct colours of background as do many eBay sellers.
