why is the 12-24 so stupidly expensive ?

In Sweden the 12-24 has a list price of 13,295 kr (source www.scandinavianphoto.se). The Tokina 12-24 (essentially the same lens)in a Nikon mount costs 4,995 kr.
Its so daft. I could buy a Nikon D90 together with Tokina 12-24 for just a little more than the Pentax 12-24. I really do think Pentax need to review their pricing. The sooner the better as I want a 12-24. /Ian K10D & Super A user.

Jacobs lists the Samsung version of the lens for 538 GBP. And it can be found used on the forum from time to time at very reasonable prices.
I bought mine here (Samsung) and I must say it is an amazing lens!

Wait ... I thought the Samsung lenses didn't work on the KA mount - are they easily adaptable?

The Samsung K mount lenses work exactly the same way. They are rebadged Pentax lenses.

Currys even had the Samsung 12-24mm for £199 at one point. Doubt there are any stocks left now though.
No longer a Pentax owner... Thanks for all the good advice and spirited discussion guys. Anyone mind if I hang around here a bit (I have use of a Samsung badged istDL if that helps).
