SMC Pentax-FA 31mm f/1.8 AL lens announced

The SMC Pentax-FA 31mm f/1.8 AL will join the 43mm f/1.9 and 77mm f/1.8 to become the first wide-angle in the 'Limited' series, available from August. The model incorporates eight glass-moulded aspherical lens elements into its 9-element, 7-group optics and has an aluminium body with metallic silver finish.
The Pentax-original floating mechanism effectively compensates for fluctuating aberrations, especially when photographing relatively close subjects down to its minimum focusing distance of just 30cm. It comes with a petal shaped lens hood to cut down excessive light and allow easy attachment and removal of its 58mm filters.
The lens has a maximum diameter of 65mm and a minimum length of 68.5mm with a weight of 345g and costs £800.
