In celebration of the new Pentax K-30 DSLR Camera, Pentax have launched the 'Meet Britain' competition where the overall winner will receive £1000.

Meet Britain is a nationwide competition asking members of the public to submit images of the things they feel make Britain great.

The campaign is being led by singer and actress Sarah Harding and DJ and TV presenter Reggie Yates. They will each create a set of images for the competition, showcasing the people and places that are special to them in Britain. Reggie said: "Photography is one of my favourite hobbies so I am delighted to be involved in the Meet Britain campaign. I can’t wait to see how creative the British public is, and it gives me a chance to indulge in one of my passions!"

Entrants can submit images of what they think makes Britain iconic in five different categories:
  • Celebrations
  • Summer Holidays
  • Friends and Family
  • Great British Culture
  • Great British Outdoors
The best images submitted will be shortlisted and will feature in an exhibition in September. The winner of each category will get a brand new Pentax K-30 camera and the overall winner will receive the £1000 prize fund.

The competition is open to the public until 3 December 2012. Submit an image via the Pentax UK Facebook page.

Baaahhhh humbug. I refuse to join Face-flippin'-book (what an utter waste of time). I beginning to feel like a second class citizen just because I have better things to do with my time than deal with the inanity that is Facebook. Grrrrr...

I think asking people to use Facebook or Twitter for anything is bordering on illegality as it is discrimination!
